Yimfong is an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist specialising in couple and relationship counselling. She has over 18 years of clinical experience in supporting a diverse range of individuals and families going through challenging life and work adjustment issues. These include anxiety, self identity issues, attachment, loss and grief, cognitive dissonance around gender, identity, sexuality, religion and spirituality.
Yimfong is passionate about how relationships matter in helping people thrive!
Respectful, caring relationships and interpersonal interaction enhance our mental health and resilience and increase our sense of well being. Conversely, continuing stress and conflict in interpersonal relationships at work and at home have a direct impact on our physical and emotional well being.
Yimfong has a unique lens for a whole of life and holistic approach to your living process for living an authentic life. She grew up in a multicultural society, lived in four countries and through her personal journey and extensive studies became much more aware of the complex interplay of culture, race, socio-politics, religion, gender, sexuality and spirituality. Understanding how generational trauma influences family dynamics and lost connections can often support our deepest need for belonging and acceptance.
Yimfong's approach is person-centred and relational, engaging with you to work collaboratively and ethically in your change process. She has a whole person, systemic approach that includes trauma-formed practices, experiential and expressive therapies, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and Focusing-oriented therapy.
Yimfong brings the same passionate values to her supervision and mentoring in reflective practice with supervisees. Through individual and group supervision, she promotes effective engagement, development of competencies that improve outcomes for her supervisees and their clients. Her supervision approach is guided by her deep understanding of professional growth, professional identity development and a deeper connection to self for the therapist that influences their work.
