Hello,
Welcome to my site and being introduced to me and my work.
I am an experienced and specialist relationship counsellor and psychotherapist with over 15 years of clinical experience. My work with individuals, couples and families provides a safe, respectful, ethical space to explore issues and co-create change with you.
The work of therapy is not an easy path but worth it if we want to live differently, more responsively than reactively. We do not have to wait for a "crisis" to get started on our journey though often, a stressful experience may stir old feelings, past hurts and unprocessed losses.
People often wait too long (up to seven years according to some studies) before seeking help. Not surprisingly, change does not seem to occur fast enough when they begin therapy and some will give too soon. Crisis counselling is useful for short term strategies. But to understand what makes the pattern or cycle come around, we must investigate and be willing to go deeper. We don't have to do this alone. It make take a little time but it's worth finding the 'right therapist' to work with and begin your healing journey.
If not a crisis then when's a good time for therapy? Perhaps you've been wondering, noticing things that don't fit in your life, family, relationships. You may rationalise it away ~ life seems okay, even good, why be self-indulgent with all this introspection! There is a listening, non-blaming, compassionate way to be with yourself, to live from your centre, to want more from life, your loves, your work but not in a frenetic, distracted or avoidant way.
You can use a non-therapy process called Focusing, developed by Eugene Gendlin to explore and clarify your wants and needs for change. Where specific issues emerge or something unprocessed keeps you stuck on treadmill of recurring thoughts, emotions or relationship difficulties, Focusing Oriented Therapy with a therapist trained in this experiential approach can be helpful to understand what keeps you stuck and find fresh perspectives and ways to move your life forward.
No one approach or method of working fits all people for all issues. Being informed how your therapist works is useful to collaborate with your change process. Please check out the following pages for my continuing engagement with professional development to deepen the clients experience of therapy and healing journey.
Warmly,

What brings people to therapy?
Many people seek counselling for many reasons including:
- Relationship stress ~ in the home or at work ~ can affect your quality of life.
- Grief and loss due to bereavement, relationship breakups, chronic illness and job loss.
- Unprocessed multiple losses can sometimes complicate your current loss and grieving.
- Feeling "stuck" and unable to move towards what wants to be alive.
- Difficult life transition issues can bring up incomplete processes from previous lived experiences.
Change is a process.....it needs safe, respectful, ethical and non-judgemental company to explore what kind of life is wanted. And what is needed for it to happen. Next steps reveal themselves if we give some time and space to a deeper listening within. Often, being in the therapeutic company of a trained and experienced professional can be helpful to the process. Finding the right fit therapist is a crucial part of the therapeutic process. While therapy has been called the "talking cure" for good reason, it creates the space for deep listening within and between two humans.
